ATO liaison and lodgement catch-up

Overdue returns and activity statements brought back up to date, with the ATO dealt with on your behalf.

Fee
$390 to $1,900
Turnaround
3 to 8 weeks end to end

Cost

If you are two, three or five years behind, we start by working out exactly what is outstanding rather than guessing. We pull your lodgement history from the tax agent portal, reconstruct the missing years from bank statements and whatever records exist, and lodge them in the order that keeps penalties down. Where there is a debt we apply for a payment arrangement and handle the correspondence, so the letters stop landing on your kitchen table.

What is included

  • Full lodgement history review before we quote
  • Reconstruction of missing records from bank and card statements
  • Outstanding returns and activity statements prepared and lodged
  • Payment arrangement negotiated with the ATO where a debt remains
  • Penalty remission requested where there are reasonable grounds

02How it runs

Four steps, in this order

Typical turnaround: 3 to 8 weeks end to end. You are told which step we are on, without having to ask.

  1. 01 Pull your full lodgement history and list what is outstanding
  2. 02 Quote a fixed fee for the whole catch-up before starting
  3. 03 Rebuild each missing year from statements and records
  4. 04 Lodge in order and apply for remission or a payment plan

03Asked often

Before you ring

If your question is not here, it is probably on the FAQ page, and if it is not there either, ring and ask.

Will I be in trouble with the ATO for lodging late?

Voluntary catch-up is treated very differently from being chased. In most cases we can request remission of failure-to-lodge penalties, and the ATO is generally willing to set up a payment arrangement once the returns are actually in.

I have almost no records for those years. Can you still do it?

Usually yes. Bank and card statements, supplier accounts and your ATO prefill data cover most of it. We will tell you honestly at the review stage if a year cannot be reconstructed to a standard we are comfortable signing.

How much of it do I have to talk to the ATO about myself?

None of it, once you are on our tax agent list. Calls and letters come to us, and we tell you what was said and what happens next.
